let them eat cake

So for Halloween I dressed up, or rather tried to dress up, as Marie Antoinette. There was a small unintentional hint of Moulin Rouge though. Particularly the first night when I wore dark purple lipstick with it. Also I had some trouble making the bodice so the shape of the dress was not quite right unfortunately. It still got a lot of oohs and ahs though with which I was pretty chuffed. A serious amout of backcombing went into the hairdo, which is surprising all my own hair.
I had started making it on Saturday morning, although I had to take a small break to save a Morticia Addams costume from a glue gun.
Lucky I did not have to spend a single penny on it. It was made from various dresses pulled out of my wardrobe. Five dresses in total: my four-year-old Debs dress from Monsoon; a lace dress from TK Maxx; two old dresses from Dunnes; and a maxi dress from Pull and Bear. The sewing on the poor thing was absolutely atrocious due to the time restriction but it still lasted two nights of Halloween antics.
In Sligo, I wore a pair of little heels but for Galway I brought out the converse for comfort. The fake blood was also much improved for Galway so I looked particularly gorey for Club K, which was amazing by the way.
Tina Turner and I ended up out by GMIT where the festivities continued. Taking a taxi home at six o’clock on Tuesday evening was fairly funny though.
On Monday night, my pal Linda – who had unfortunately misplaced her ladybird costume – just wore a sheet. It was quite possibly the best Halloween costume I had ever seen as you may have noticed from the pictures above. When she first put it on I was doubled up laughing for about ten solid minutes.

R.I.P fabulous feather fan from Monsoon. It unfortunately did not survive Toffs.

Cheers for reading,
Jane
