friends with benefits

As a special treat after my exam I watched the most who-larious movie. Friends With Kids. Watch it. Seriously. It is amaze balls. I may be a little biased though because I do have a bit of a thing for Chris O'Dowd.
Read on though and maybe you'll be convinced beyond the whole Chris O'Dowd thing.

Also after Bridesmaids who can resist the Kirsten Wiig-Chris O'Dowd-Maya Rudolph-John Hamm combination?
I have to say that the constant banter between the main characters (the above foursome plus Jennifer Westfeldt and Adam Scott) is probably the best banter ever written. Also the best awkward sex-scene I have ever scene. You actually want to yell at them to shut the f**k up and have sex already! It is like a really really hilarious friends with benefits situation.

And then... on top of everything  it is written and directed by a girl. And a pretty girl at that. Now I am probably the last person on the planet who is in any way at all feminist inclined. I'm all for working mums and "sisters are doing it for themselves" and all that, but a bra-burner I am not. However when Bridesmaids came out last year everyone was like 'Uh can a girl actually be funny?' And personally I think they can. I know tons of girls who are genuinely funny and I don't mean haha-funny, palling about with friends funny, I mean could-be-on-the-stage funny. And this women completely backs up that point.

So who, I hear you ask, is the fantabulous woman?

Jennifer Westfeldt. I think she and Kirsten Wiig are really making 2011 about the funny woman. Keep a lookout for her.

Megan Fox is in it too and as per usual she is in the kind of role that any actress could have played. I shall not give away anything more though because you have to watch it.

Also Emily from Gilmore Girls played by Kelly Bishop who I think is just fantastic is in it very briefly which is also great.

Just make sure you watch it. Friends With Kids is so great.

Cheers for reading,

Jane

Also the very handsome man that is Edward Burns features in it. What a beaut.
